By measuring the total extinction coefficient using the forward scattering method and converting it into real-time visibility values through a built-in algorithm, the portable visibility monitor overcomes the limitations of traditional fixed monitoring equipment, which is restricted to fixed locations and cannot be moved flexibly. It is widely used in emergency response, road traffic patrols, and field weather monitoring. The device features a unibody portable structure, weighing less than 10kg, with dimensions of 300x150x220mm. The handling and installation process is simple; personnel can start monitoring immediately after unpacking and powering on, eliminating complex pre-testing steps and significantly improving on-site monitoring efficiency.
This portable visibility monitor features a 10.1-inch high-brightness touchscreen, ensuring clear visibility even in strong sunlight. The screen displays real-time visibility values and simultaneously generates historical monitoring curves, allowing staff to easily view short-term visibility trends. The device has a built-in 8GB SD card, automatically saving monitoring data in real-time. Staff can easily retrieve historical records and export original monitoring files for data archiving. Equipped with a high-capacity lithium battery, the device can operate continuously for extended periods in unpowered outdoor locations, meeting the monitoring needs of power-free sites such as during sudden disasters and temporary road patrols.
The portable visibility monitor's casing is made of high-quality aluminum alloy, providing waterproof, dustproof, and impact-resistant protection to withstand complex and changing outdoor environments. The circuitry includes a watchdog module that automatically detects faults during prolonged continuous operation, reducing the probability of system crashes. All communication and power interfaces are equipped with surge protection to minimize hardware damage from lightning strikes and electrostatic discharge in outdoor environments. The device operates on a 24V power supply, resulting in low overall power consumption. It can operate continuously for extended periods with an external power source.
